Congratulations to my brother and sister, Harry Belafonte and Malala Yousafzai!!! They have been cited Amnesty International's 2013 Ambassadors
of Conscience, the London-based human rights watchdog's highest honor. We all know of Harry's activist career, and his entertainment history (who can forget Geechee Joe(?) from the Let's Do It Again film franchise?). Malala, at age 16, should be as familiar to all of us. She is the outspoken schoolgirl advocate for the right of children to receive education. She is the survivor of a brutal Pakistani Taliban assassination attempt. They gave her at least one to the head. She received a portion of her extensive medical attention in the US, I believe.
When you feel that you can't do anything to participate in progressive action; when you feel there's nothing you can do to stem the tide of worldwide reactionaryism, simply understand that if you can inform someone (educate them!) concerning the work and lives of people such as these two, then you are doing some of the work. Or, just tell them about #AngryBronx. Peace, be well and keep your foot to the wheel!
Oh, yeah, don't forget about Danny Glover, and all the hardship he's endured in Hollywood just cause he's stood up, and been a man. And this picture below detracts from that statement not one whit! Glover and Harry Belafonte--real men of Africa. Don't get it twisto.
